The Bailey House Museum gardens will be a rainbow of color on for the 3rd annual “Celebration of Quilts” Quilt Show and Exhibit. Local quilters from across Maui will hang their quilts throughout the gardens and demonstrate quilting methods to visitors at this popular one-day event. Antique quilts from the Maui Historical Society and private collections will be exhibited in the Bailey House Museum. The Shins are an American indie rock band founded and fronted by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, James Mercer, in New Mexico. After a couple of line-up changes, The Shins scored hits from their debut album Oh, Inverted World, including “New Slang,” “Know Your Onion!” and “The Past and Pending.” The band relocated to Portland, Oregon in 2001 then released Chutes Too Narrow in 2003 and Wincing the Night Away in 2007, which was nominated for a Grammy Award. The Maui 5K is an event to help promote health and fitness for Maui County’s children as well as their families to create a more active and healthy lifestyle. A minimum of $15.00 per registered participant will be distributed back to the schools based on each individual school’s participation and will be used to help enhance or improve the physical fitness, play and athletic programs within the schools. The event relies on donations from local businesses and support from volunteers to make this event a success! The Maui Stage Race is a 3 event race. It all starts with a 25K Time Trial on Saturday morning April 28th. Then onto a 60 minute Criterium later that same day. Then Sunday morning it will finish with a 50 mile road race through the hills of beautiful Kula and Keokea Maui. There will be a post-event function and awards ceremony. Participation in all 3 events is encouraged, but not required. Highest scoring riders will win cash prizes and awards. From Market Street to Front Street, from Baldwin Avenue to Hana Highway, most every Friday our community gathers to celebrate art, music and Maui culture. Residents and visitors enjoy a special night of interaction and fun, punctuated with free entertainment, special offerings and Friday-only promotions from each town’s family of merchants. Maui Friday Town Parties are a safe, fun community-minded way for both residents and visitors to kickoff the weekend under the stars and enjoy our small-town ambiance.
