IOLANI PALACE

The only royal palace in the United States. Completed in 1882 by Hawaii's "Merry Monarch" David Kalakaua at a cost of $360,000.

STATE CAPITOL

Built in 1969 for $25 million, the building itself is a metaphor for Hawaii - its pillars are palms, the reflecting pool is the sea, the cone-shaped rooms are the volcanoes

WASHINGTON PLACE

Now a museum, Washington Place was the home of Hawaii's last reigning monarch, Queen Liliuokalani, and has served as the official residence of the Governor of Hawaii.
